 Cognitive Retraining Therapy

Occupational therapists work with clients to promote optimal cognitive function using cognitive retraining tasks that improve brain function. This is very effective for individuals just starting to have memory challenges. With this treatment, residents can many times continue to thrive in assisted living enjoying conversation and activities fully. Without this therapy, residents become candidates for a specialized memory neighborhood much sooner.

Occupational Treatments may include:

  • Financial management activities

  • Spatial orientation training

  • Sequencing tasks

  • Problem-Solving activities (puzzles, crosswords, word search, etc.)

  • Motor praxis and planning

  • Keeping and following a schedule
